ZooToo is a new site that is dedicated to helping pet shelters. They have kicked off their site and have a rapidly growing membership. As part of their kickoff, they are offering a million dollar makeover to one lucky shelter! The terms and conditions are listed on their site.
REGISTER: To get started, register with the site. A simple registration will gain points, but a referral gives the shelter an extra 100 points. So click the link below to get started:
www.zootoo.com/register/referrer/briarwood
Register your information, confirm your email address, and when you put in your zip code, you'll see a drop down list of shelters in your area appear. From this list, choose the Humane Society Serving Clark County.
VOLUNTEER: Once your registration is complete, click on the Volunteer link at the top of the page. If you choose at least one way in which you can help serve the shelter, then the shelter will gain even more points! There are many things to choose from - fostering, walking dogs, stuffing envelopes, even digital photography!
REVIEW: In addition to points from referrals, the shelter gains points (and so do you!) with every product you review, ever news article you contribute comments to, etc. Below is a chart of how points can be accumulated. I got excited the first day and wrote so many product reviews (we have a LOT of dog stuff) that I exceeded my limit and didn't get credits worth 100 points. So just save the extras for the next day!

This is a cost-free way to contribute to your local shelter. Our shelter has been pursuing grants and any solution they can find for the past several years to come up with more room at the facility. It would be nice to have an isolation area to help control the spread of anything viral or bacterial. And to possibly house a low cost spay-neuter clinic in the future. There are good things that are planned for this community and this might be the key to help make them happen! The rate of surviving animals has already increased greatly with the staff on hand and the programs they're implementing, but we still have a way to go. The heart is there, what can we do to help?
CURRENT NEEDS: Since the pet food recall, the pet food companies had to burn their excess and tainted dog food. The excess dog food is what we have been relying on as contributions for our animals. Please donate any excess food you might have and feel free to drop off a bag or two next time you drive by!
